I’m not in the market for a new Kindle; my current Kindle works just fine. I use a Paperwhite. I couldn’t tell you which one, but it works and I use it daily. But if I were getting a new Kindle, it would be this purple beauty.

A purple Kindle showing a book's prologue, beside a hand holding a white two-button Kindle Click remote.

Amazon says it’s “ube.” I didn’t know that word. (Turns out it’s a purple yam?) But I know purple. I think that Kindle looks great.

Amazon also unveiled the Kindle Click, which — like the Kobo Remote that came before it — is a standalone Bluetooth page-turning button. I know some folks consider page-turning buttons a must; I’ve never minded tapping screen edges (or swiping) to turn. The idea of a standalone button remote strikes me as the doofiest of the doofy, but hey, if it works for some people, great.
